Hair Loss Due to Improper Care of Hair

Hair loss is a condition which can disturb the mind set of anyone suffering from it. Though we have a natural tendency to lose 50-100 hair per day, losing more than 1000 hair on a daily basis is a matter of concern. Hair loss can happen to anyone at any age.

Since hair is the crowning glory of our personality, hair loss can be extremely depressing especially in this image conscious age of today. But before seeking out any treatment in panic, it’s always advisable to first understand the basic causes of hair loss.

The reasons of hair loss can be varied from stress and medications to genetics and hormones, from diet and environment to improper hair care.

Many a times in the absence of obvious hair loss causes like stress, hormones, heredity, and pregnancy etc. hair loss can be attributed to faulty hair products and improper hair care. These harmful hair products include dyes, shampoos, hair gels, hair colors, conditioners, etc. These hair products contain chemicals that can break and weaken the hair. Excessive use of such hair products overtime can lead to hair fall.

Also improper care of hair like repeated tugging of hair into ponytails, vigorous combing etc. can cause hair to break off the scalp line. So if you are into the habit of wearing styles like pigtails, ponytails, braids etc. over an extended period of time, you may lose hair more than just the hair that is broken off the line. Although the hair loss can be stopped by adapting to a loser hair style, it is not certain the hair that has lost will grow back.

Shampooing, brushing and combing frequently can also damage the hair roots. Using the cream rinse or herbal conditioner after shampooing will be better idea. This will make them smoother and easier to comb. When the hairs are wet, they are to be taken extra care as wet hairs are more fragile and so vigorous rubbing them with towel and combing or brushing immediately may pull your hairs out. One should use the wide toothed combs to prevent hair loss.

However good news is that hair loss due to improper hair care and using harmful hair products is not permanent. Hair will grow back once you stop using those hair products and start taking proper care of your hair.
